“We are gathering researchers in the field of soil zoology from across Asian countries to discuss our research. While our community may be small, much like a family, we firmly believe that such exchanges hold significant value.”
Thank you very much for the support generously provided by the ICSZ/ICA Fund and the Japanese Society of Soil Zoology.

With Gratitude: A Closing Address to the Conference
24 August 2024
Dear Participants of the first Asian Colloquium of Soil Zoology (ACSZ 2024),
The kickoff meeting for the Asian Colloquium of Soil Zoology has successfully concluded with your cooperation. As the representative of the Local Committee, I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all participants from more than seven countries.
As you return to your respective countries, we wish you all safe travels. My heartfelt hope is that you remain healthy and encounter no difficulties as you transition back to your daily lives.
I trust you’ll agree that the friendships we cultivate are vital to our growth. During this conference, we reaffirmed the strong bonds that unite us as researchers across Asia in the study of soil animals. These connections are truly invaluable to our personal and professional development.
It is we, the organizers, who have perhaps benefited the most from this gathering. Thanks to your presence, we have grown and learned immensely. The capacity for growth is a remarkable trait of humanity at any age, and I am deeply grateful to each of you for your role in this process. Thank you, sincerely.
Looking ahead, we have also committed to deepening our ties as members of the Asian Society for Soil Zoology, a significant step forward in our shared journey. Additionally, we have agreed to hold the Asian Society for Soil Zoology conference every three years within Asia, ensuring our continued collaboration and growth.
We eagerly anticipate and wholeheartedly support Prof. Lee in Busan, Korea, in successfully organizing the next conference in 2027. Let us continue our earnest efforts in the pursuit of scientific truth, so that our joy in reuniting will be even greater.
Finally, I wish each of you a future filled with brightness and success. Thank you once again for your participation. Until we meet again.
Warmest regards,
ACSZ 2024 Local Committee
Satoshi SHIMANO, Professor Ph. D., Hosei University.
